We carry hitches to fit your 1997 Chevrolet S-10 but a hitch from a Grand Cherokee isn't the same design. The distance between the frame and the way the hitch attaches to the frame are significantly different. Trailer hitches are custom made for specific vehicles and it's rare that a hitch for one fits another unless they have the same frame. In order to make a proper selection for a hitch ball, you will need to find out what diameter size ball your trailer needs. It should be stamped on the trailer coupler or frame, either 1-7/8 or 2 inch.
All bumper ball holes are 3/4 of an inch, so you will need to pick a ball with a 3/4 inch shank diameter. We do have a Curt Class III hitch, part # 13920 that's compatible with the roll pan on your S-10, as long as the roll pan is factory installed, and not aftermarket. The receiver opening would be concealed behind the license plate, so you'd need to cut a hole behind the plate.
